Install Fire Protection In Your Home

There are a lot of different aspects that you can add to a high quality security system. Security cameras, automatic door locks, window sensors, door sensors, and the list goes on. One aspect of a security system that should not be overlooked is a fire alarm. Unlike a burglar, a house fire is not going to be picky with what it destroys. A house fire is going to destroy everything in the home, including any family heirlooms. In the year 2015 there were 1,345,500 fires that were actually reported in the United States. These fires caused 3,280 deaths, 15,700 injuries, and over $14 billion in property damage. This is a lot of fire, death, and damage done by a fire. It only makes sense to add fire protection in your home security system. Here area few other reasons why it is a good idea.

Connection To Monitoring

In the event of a fire, your main concern should be getting out and getting your family to safety. Once this occurs you can call the fire department. The only problem is that a fire can consume an entire room in a matter of minutes. If your fire alarm is connected to a monitoring station, the alarm will contact the monitoring station and the monitoring station will then contact the fire department. This all happens within a matter of seconds. So, while you are escaping with your family the fire department will be contacted. This response time could be the difference between losing your home, and just a room.

Heat and Smoke Sensors

The equipment that will come with the security system will generally be second to none. The fire alarms will contain smoke alarms, but they also often have heat detectors. If the fire is in another room with the door shut, the smoke may not reach the closest alarm. However, if there is a heat sensor and the home raises in temperature too quickly, it will trip the alarm. The protection is just much more advanced than a regular smoke detector.

Insurance

With $14 billion in damage to property, insurance companies lose a lot of money to fire. This is why they are often willing to give you a discount on your homeowners insurance if you have a security system that incorporates fire protection. You are able to get the protection that you and your family deserve, and you may just save a little money from your insurance company.
